World Relief Refugee Resettlement

By donating funds, office space and staff time, Bellingham Covenant played an integral role in helping launch a local World Relief Western Washington office.

World Relief is a Christian humanitarian organization that contracts with the federal government to resettle refugees around the country. The former Whatcom Refugee Resettlement Project officially became a new World Relief office (under the umbrella of World Relief Western Washington) in September 2021 and started receiving arrivals in December 2021!

Volunteer Opportunities

Since much of the funding for the resettlement of refugees in the U.S. has been ended, World Relief Western Washington has been rethinking it’s strategy. Their office continues to support local assylum seekers—funded through state grants and private funding. But currently they are not offering Cultural Orientation classes or helping families with resettlement, which is where they previously needed volunteer support. Instead, they are looking for ways to offer enrichment and services for all immigrants to our area. Stay tuned for when they will announce ways to be involved!
