COVID-19 Update Winter 2022
Updated March 1, 2022

Hi BCC Family,

We want to thank you again for your resilience and faithfulness during this disruptive pandemic season.

On February 28, State officials announced that the indoor mask mandate in Washington State will end sooner than originally scheduled. Starting on March 12, masks will no longer be required in indoor spaces including houses of worship. The local health department and Bellingham School District are planning to follow this guidance. This shift in policy is reflective of the steep decline in cases and hospitalizations in the State following the omicron surge, and updated guidance from the CDC.

Throughout the pandemic we have been committed to following public health guidelines. Following that precedent, we plan to adopt these new guidelines at BCC. Starting on March 12, masks will become optional.

We recognize that this shift to making masks optional will come as relief to some while creating apprehension for others. We support those who continue to wear masks and encourage people to respect the differing choices people make regarding masking as they become optional. We are also committed to supporting those who are not ready to re-engage in-person events by continuing to live-stream our services, providing opportunities for Zoom small groups, and hosting occasional outdoor events as the weather gets warmer.

As always, we will continue to monitor local health guidelines in the future and adapt our policy as needed.

God Bless,
Pastor Phil, on behalf of the Covid-19 reopening team at BCC
