Foundation
What is Foundation?
Foundation is a 2-year discipleship journey for 7th and 8th graders. We believe in the ability of our youth to participate in the community of faith. To this end, we provide training and education in the Way of Jesus around two main concepts: the story of the bible, and a collection of practices taught by Jesus to His followers.
Foundation and Practice make up a two-year rotation for our 7th and 8th graders.
One year, dubbed “Foundation,” focuses on the Bible as a whole story. We’ll examine the movements of Scripture and respond to it, learning some of the world behind the text, the world of the text, and how our contemporary world influences our reading. Most of all, we’ll look for how this collection of Scripture points to Jesus! At the end of our time, students will create a response to what we’ve discussed and present it to the congregation.
The second year, dubbed “Practice,” focuses on learning to engage in the way Jesus taught his disciples to live. We’ll focus on a core of practices, including prayer, scripture, community, solitude, sabbath, fasting, and more. Again, at the end of this “practice,” students will create a response to present to the congregation.
Our current rotation of “Foundation” begins in Fall 2026!

Foundation meets monthly throughout the school year on Saturdays from 9:30 AM to noon:
