This journaling/note-taking discipline is intended to be utilized during worship services where you find yourself being distracted. It can also be a great way for you to interact with the Bible when doing personal devotional times. 1
The Goal(s):
to give you ideas and tools on how to get the most out of a worship service and/or sermon
To give you ideas and tools on how to spend personal time in the Bible
Process:
Gather a few simple supplies
A notebook, pen/pencil, colored pencil, markers, etc is all you really need
Bring your supplies and a Bible to each worship service
As the sermon is preached, start to listen for words, images, and thoughts that grab your attention.
Write down these things that capture your imagination. You can doodle, draw, make lists, etc as you listen. Use your pen/pencils to keep your mind engaged.
When you find yourself being distracted, reengage and keep going!
