Next Steps

Advent has begun! We are not organizing Advent groups this year; however, we are providing copies of the Advent devotional from Teach Us to Pray, available on the Kiosks. We encourage you to use the study with your family, small group, or a group of friends. Contact Pastor Adria if you have questions or need help forming a group.

Advent Vespers Service, Tonight, 7:00pm - Join us in the sanctuary for this contemplative evening worship service of scripture, singing, and prayer, in the style of Taizé.

Congregational Meeting: We will be hosting a congregational meeting after the service Today. We have two agenda items. First, we'll share a short update about the status of our sanctuary expansion project. Second, the Lead Team will present a proposal for supporting the work of Renew Northwest.

Holiday Joy Toy Store - Unwrapped gifts and gift cards are due TODAY. Please note the value of gift cards (on or attached to each card). To help at Interfaith’s toy “store”, contact Pastor Adria at adria@bellinghamcov.org.

The Christmas Book Cart – Brighten and enrich the Advent and Christmas season this year with selections from the cart of books – and a few children’s CDs – curated especially for the season.  The cart is located just outside the open doors of the library on Sunday mornings and just inside the library entrance on weekdays.  Check out these items as you would any other from our BCC Library. And don’t overlook the jigsaw puzzle collection on the window seat.  No formal checkout required.

Evening in December, Tuesday, December 9th at 7:00pm - Ladies, join us for an evening of singing, inspiration, dessert, and fellowship. Our speaker will be Katrina Spainhour, and she will be sharing what YWAM does and the impact it makes.

Prime Timers Potluck, Thursday, December 11th, 12:30pm – If you are around retirement age, come enjoy food and fellowship with this great group of folks! Following lunch, Christy Tucker, a friend of the Marstons, will be sharing some of her experiences as a prayer missionary in Israel.

Loud Offering – Collect your loose coins for our annual "Loud Offering" on Sunday, December 14! This offering benefits Covenant World Relief and Development (https://covchurch.org/serve-globally/covenant-world-relief/). Labels and lids to make collection cans are on the Next Step Kiosks if you want them.

Traditions & Treats – Let’s celebrate our immigrant roots and how God has brought us together from all over the world! Bring a Christmas treat from your family’s heritage or tradition to share during a special coffee hour on December 14 after the worship service. If you have Advent or Christmas decor from other countries, or if you can help with set up or clean up, contact Pastor Adria at adria@bellinghamcov.org.

International Student Lunch, Thursday, December 18 -- Each year, BCC hosts a group of International Students for lunch as they make their way to Mt Baker for their Winter Retreat. Volunteers are needed for setup, decorations, cooking, making cookies, hosting tables, and clean up. If you would like to know more about this event or help in some way, contact Jan Taylor at janice.cornali.taylor@gmail.com.

GriefShare – We will be starting a support group for people grieving the death of a loved one on Sunday, January 4. This group will run from 10:45am-12:45 pm for 13 weeks. Each week, you’ll watch a video with counsel and insights from respected grief experts and relatable personal stories, followed by a time of sharing and support. Registration is required: use the paper form on the kiosks or this online form:
https://shorturl.at/j3nFh. Deadline for registration is December 15. For more information, visit the Kiosks or contact Dotty Marston at marvinanddotty@gmail.com or visit griefshare.org.
