Next Steps

Build connections with others in our church family who live near you! 

This fall, we are launching Neighborhood Gatherings: getting together in homes once or twice a month for a meal and table conversation.

All ages and stages are invited! Sign up online at https://www.bellinghamcov.org/neighborhood-gatherings or fill out the paper registration available on the Info Desks. We will be in contact to invite you to a gathering near you. The deadline to sign up is Sunday, September 27. Rainy and cold weather is coming! There are many in our community who cannot afford what is needed to stay warm and dry. Starting next Sunday, we will be collecting clean, new or gently-used coats. In high demand are XL, XXL, XXXL, and child sizes, but all sizes are welcome. Donations can be placed in the bins in the foyer near the church office through Sunday, September 27.

Life Together for all ages resumes Today!

Adult classes will include:

1. Sermon Discussion

Facilitators: Martin Schlomer, Tim Keiper — Location: End of hallway by prayer room. Join us for a study of the Scripture texts and a discussion of the points and consequences of the morning’s sermon.

2. From Text to Life: Understanding and Studying the Bible 

Facilitators: Jonathan Spainhour, guests — Location: Sanctuary— How did the Bible come to us, and how can we read it faithfully? This class will explore the transmission and reliability of Scripture before equipping participants with some practical tools for careful observation, responsible interpretation, and faithful application.

Tired of trying harder? The Genesis Change Group is for men who desire to move beyond strategies of trying harder to discover new healing and freedom from things like people-pleasing, anger, anxiety, workaholism, porn, drugs, and alcohol. The irony of becoming Christlike is He became fully human. Recovery is the Christlike process of becoming more fully human. This group will meet on Saturdays at 7:30 AM in the Dining Room, beginning September 26. Contact: Justin Mattix, jsmattix@gmail.com

Arts Night – We have rescheduled the Arts Night for October 11 at 6:30 pm. If you are an artist, musician, or writer, consider crafting a response to Philippians. Perhaps there is an image or concept that has captured your attention after reading the letter or hearing the sermons? This Sunday we will start collecting submissions of art, poetry, essays, stories, and songs related to the letter of Philippians. You can put submissions on the table near the office; please include your name, title of work, media, and, if desired, a description. The deadline for submissions is Sunday, Oct. 4.
