Next Steps

Storytellers Needed – If you have been wondering if there is a place where you can dive deep into God's Word and share those stories with some amazing kids, this is your moment! We need at least 2 more storytellers for our kids' program. Please contact Megan (megan@bellinghamcov.org) if you would be willing to explore this way of serving (and being served) in our church community!

Thanksgiving Food Drive – In light of the increased demand on food pantries, we will be collecting non-perishable items for the Bellingham Food Bank on through Sunday, November 30. The items most needed right now are: peanut butter, canned meat, seed & nut butters (peanut-free), pinto beans & rice, boxed milks (dairy & non-dairy), diapers & baby formula, menstrual products, kid-friendly foods. Place items in the green boxes by Café Fika or near the office.

Advent begins November 30! We will not be organizing Advent groups this year; however, we are providing copies of the Advent devotional from Teach Us to Pray, available on the Kiosks. We encourage you to use the study with your family, small group, or a group of friends. Contact Pastor Adria with questions or need help forming a group.

Congregational Meeting: We will be hosting a congregational meeting after the service on Sunday, December 7. We have two agenda items. First, we'll share a short update about the status of our sanctuary expansion project. Second, we will hear from Steven Shetterly, Charity Garza, and Missy Huegel about the immigration non-profit outreach they are launching called Renew Northwest. The Lead Team will present a vision and proposal to support this initiative with a grant from our Mission Catalyst Fund. We will hold a congregational vote on this proposal. Please plan to join us!

Surviving the Holidays — Whether it is your first holiday without a loved one or the tenth, we invite you to join us on Sunday, December 7, 10:45 AM-12:45 PM. Please sign-up at the Kiosks, so we have a head count for lunch. For more information, visit the Kiosks or contact Pastor Adria, adria@bellinghamcov.org.

Prime Timers Potluck, Thursday, December 11th, 12:30 PM – If you are retirement age, come enjoy food and fellowship! Following lunch, Christy Tucker, a friend of the Marston’s, will be sharing some of her experiences as a prayer missionary in Israel.

Holiday Joy Toy Drive

  • How to participate: Choose an ornament tag. Buy gifts or gift cards and bring them back to the church unwrapped by Sunday, December 7. Please note the value of gift cards on tag or card.

  • How to volunteer: To help at Interfaith’s toy “store,” sign up, contact Pastor Adria at adria@bellinghamcov.org.

Evening in December - Ladies, join us for an evening of singing, inspiration, dessert, and fellowship on Tuesday, December 9th at 7 PM. Our speaker will be Katrina Spainhour, and she will be sharing about YWAM North Cascades.

Loud Offering – Collect your loose coins for our annual "Loud Offering" on Sunday, December 14! This offering benefits Covenant World Relief and Development. Labels and lids to make collection cans are on the Next Step Kiosks if you want them.

Traditions & Treats – Let’s celebrate our immigrant roots and how God has brought us together from all over the world! Bring a Christmas treat from your family’s heritage or tradition to share during a special coffee hour on December 14 after the worship service. If you have Advent or Christmas decor from other countries, or if you can help with set up or clean up, contact Pastor Adria at adria@bellinghamcov.org.

International Student Lunch — Thursday, Dec. 18.

Each year BCC hosts a group of International Students for lunch as they make their way to Mt Baker for their Winter Retreat. It is an opportunity to show hospitality to these international students.  Volunteers needed for setup, decorations, cooking, making cookies, hosting tables, and clean up.  If you would like to know more about this event, or help in some way, contact Jan Taylor at janice.cornali.taylor@gmail.com

Religion and State Forum resumes on January 14. Meanwhile, copies of the books that have been studied thus far are available in the church library.
