Passionate Leaders with Pure Hearts!

In a world that values achievement in the external things, the most important quality of a leader is not performance, but a pure heart. Unfortunately, even at church, people feel the pressure to perform, and quickly fall into the pattern of acting like everything is going great. As a community of believers, we want to create an atmosphere where leaders can feel comfortable to admit it when things aren’t going great.

We certainly don’t require perfect leaders because they don’t exist, but we do require growing leaders. We need men and women who take God seriously in their lives, who take time to examine the condition of their heart, and who listen to God’s voice in their lives.

The staff is committed to helping you do ministry, but we never want you to get so busy doing God’s work, that you miss out on God’s work in you. Healthy ministry begins with passionate leaders who have pure hearts and rely on the power of God.

1. Recognize God’s power through personal humility.

2. Submit your abilities to God and allow His power to work through who you are.

3. Focus on being the person of God before doing the work of God.

The "No Doubt" Lifestyle

Paul gives some great practical advice to one of his closest friends, a young leader named, Timothy.

Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you teach, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity… keep a close watch on yourself and on your teaching. Stay true to what is right, and God will save you and those who hear you.
— 1 Timothy 4: 12, 16

The secret to not allowing anyone to “think less” of you is to live a lifestyle that models Christ. All Christ Followers are watched by others, and Christian leaders are watched even more closely. Since it is our goal to change our world for Christ, it is of utmost importance to live a no doubt lifestyle, one where no one can muster up a complaint about usor— more importantly about God.

We ask our leaders to live according to the high standard of living described in the Bible. We’d rather have two high-standard leaders than fifty non-committed leaders who just want to plan activities while they live any lifestyle they please. The following list is an example of a no-doubt lifestyle:

  • Accountability to another Christ Follower
  • Authentic and Transparent
  • Consistently Choosing God’s Way over the World’s Way
  • Encouraging
  • Faithful with the Small Things
  • Genuinely Friendly
  • Growing Spiritually
  • Personally Displays What They Say
  • Has a Love for Life
  • Has a Positive Attitude
  • Helpful and Serving
  • Humble
  • Proud to be a Devoted Follower of Christ
  • Role Model for a Student
  • Supportive of Church Staff and other Leaders
